How I work with the Brain’s Structure to Shift D Grades to A Grades

  • Learn why my approach to tutoring your child is so unique and effective.

  • Learn the deeper root cause for why your child struggles with math (or any other subject…) and how my approach overcomes this in a way other tutoring approaches or classrooms often don’t

  • Understand key brain structures that impact how your child learns, so that I can work with your child’s brain instead of against it

  • See behind the curtain for why parents often experience my tutoring support as magic when their kid moves from a D grade to an A grade

  • Why my approach not only helps your child get better grades and test scores, but positively impacts their overall life now and in the future, such as their self-esteem, identity, relationships, ability to manage stress (like in an important interview etc..)

My Approach

Students come to me feeling stressed, anxious, defeated, struggling before each test or deadline, and ready to give up academically. Unfortunately, this experience during their teen years can set up a deep, life-long identity with failure, lack of capability and low confidence that can impact their physical health, career trajectory, relationships, and emotional/mental well-being, long-term.

Giving up on Math has a particularly negative effect on young people, leaving them thinking they are not smart enough. This negative identity can aggravate SAT/ACT results, and impact college opportunities, and then also career opportunities. With my students, I work on this belief as well as helping them find their capacity for learning Math once they are met exactly where they are. What makes my academic tutoring truly unique is that while supporting kids on technical skills in the given subject area, I am also teaching them skills for both healing and improving their self-identity. By working with me, kids develop a new self-identity as capable of learning new things, an empowering perception of their intelligence and the skill to set goals and progress towards the results they want over time. This is life altering!

I do this by using two other novel and extremely effective approaches to tutoring, alongside subject matter learning, like math. First, I use my understanding about the relationship between cognition and learning, so that kids are not just learning the homework problem or test question, but are learning how to learn. This gives them the skills to learn anything, life-long!

Secondly, I couple this with emotional skills and somatic awareness to help them navigate their feelings of stress, anxiety and shame. Not only do kids learn academic skills with me, but along the way my approach also creates a positive, non-judgmental environment for young people to develop life-long emotional skills for processing stress, anxiety, frustration, shame, low self-esteem, etc. These painful emotional feelings can be significant barriers to desired homework and test results. But perhaps as importantly, if kids are left without the skills to process these emotions, these emotions can affect every area of their lives, including physical health, mental health, relationships and career, life-long! Often these difficult emotions are root causes of kids developing an identity that they are unable to progress towards their goals because they are not capable enough or not smart enough.

Every day, I see incredible shifts in kids’ math and test results, but perhaps more importantly in how they feel about themselves and how they identify who they are as a person that can meet and overcome challenges. See a few testimonials below, or Please follow this link for testimonials.

I have worked with hundreds of students and with different private and public schools.

I look forward to working with you and your bright, capable, intelligent child that can learn anything given the skills for learning to learn!

Math and Yoga?

Being myself a yoga and yoga dance practitioner, I believe in its benefits for young adults and adolescents. Scientific research at Harvard has shown that Yoga helps children in:

  • improving concentration
  • improving memory
  • building confidence
  • managing stress
  • improving resilience
  • having better relationships with their peers
